Burgess Cup / Club Championship
Ladies
Honours Boards
Few ladies were available for the re-arranged dates of the CC in August, so with a change of format only 27 holes were played in order to complete it on the day.
18 ladies competed in the day which started with the 9 holes of Prince’s, followed by tea/coffee and a cake before playing Duke’s. The day was rounded off with a 3-course meal at the 19th hole.
Club Championship
Jayne Maxwell is the ladies’ club champion for the second year running with a gross score of 126. The runner-up is Rianda Markram who was six shots behind on 132. Final result…
Handicap Cup
The result was reversed in the lower division for the Handicap Cup (handicaps up to 21) with Rianda taking the honours on the back 18 from Jayne. Final result…
Pembroke Cup
In the Pembroke Cup (handicaps 22 and above), Susan Smith was the winner with a net 101, and Amy Hocking was runner-up with a net 106. Final result…

Ladies
Due to the changes we had to incorporate into the fixture list, the Committee Cup is an 18-hole-only stableford competition this year.
The promised sun and temperatures in the low 20s never materialised, but there was some good scoring despite the conditions moving inexorably towards autumn with considerably less run on the ball. It was tight at the top with 3 shots separating the top 3 ladies. Sheena Harrington emerged the winner on 39 points followed one point behind by Susan Smith (evidently still on form from her 45 points on the Sunday of the weekend away) and Julie Smyth was third with 36 points. Mitcham Friendly
With full rain gear adorned and a continuous and deadly drizzle to endure, the formidable RPGC ladies – Val (Captain of the event), Susan(45er), Jayne, Doreen (Demon Putter), Maureen and Fiona successfully defeated the Mitcham Ladies by 3 nil (total aggregate score 6 nil) to regain the Annual Friendly Trophy which began in 1962.
Despite the drizzle there was only the best of hospitality -hot coffee to start and a scrumptious meal afterwards -from these friendliest of golfers the Mitcham Ladies. Long may this event continue!
