Nick Rogers has clearly recovered from his recent wrist injury and demolished the field with 66 to win the 3-clubs-and-a-putter competition. He was 4 clear of new member Simon Mandelbaum and Jon Cooper. Best lady was Val Riziotis with 75.
This was the last competition for the associated Top Dog Trophy and with just the final of the JH Taylor to be played, John Ritchie is declared the winner with 28 points, one ahead of Darrin Siiankowski.
Two emerged from the pack with exceptional scores – Mike Rowe (66) the winner from Nigel Ward by a single shot. Ladies found conditions difficult with Kate Emanuel best on 80.
Both Mike and Nigel had their handicaps reduced and an added bonus for Nigel was winning the associated Anniversary Trophy from Paul Grand by 7 shots.
The winner on a day suited to golfing was Kate Emanuel with a very creditable 42 points, three ahead of nearest rival Lia Donath. Best men were Darrin Siiankowski and Mike Rowe with 37s. Men ceded one shot.
An updated Top Dog confirms John Ritchie leading from Darrin but it needs updating further re the 2 knockout events and of course the last event to be played – Lissaman Cup.
Monthly Medal / Barton Bowl
A welcome return to Summer with blue skies and warm temperatures albeit with a stiff breeze set the scene for the October monthly medal. First was Kate Emmanuel, second was Jayne Maxwell and third was Lia Donath all three with net 72s.
Kate also won the Barton Bowl which was played as a stableford in conjunction with the competition of the day.
The sun shone in cloudless skies and produced some sparkling golf, most notably from the winner Graeme Syme (65), Paul Doran (66), Hiro Ushido (67) and Sarrin Siiankowski (68). Paul’s score reduced his handicap into single figures- well done Paul!
This was the last round of the Grand Medal Trophy with Toby Hunt the winner on 335 from Graeme Syme 340. Toby’s scores were all in the 60s – well done Toby.
Burgess Cup / Autumn Meeting BB
The second leg of the Autumn Meeting a 4BBB stableford competition took place in blustery wet conditions. The winners with 34 points were Lia Donath and Ros Gray, second were Cheryl Woodhouse and Nina Harrison with 33 points and third were Kate Emmanuel and Doreen Dolby with 30 points.
Competitors for the annual Greensomes event battled against the elements and the scoring was generally low. The winners were the pairing of Ron Linden and Richard Kenwood with 37 points from Graeme Syme and Nigel Ward a point behind.
