Richmond Park was closed this weekend for the Olympic cycle road races.
The Captains had kindly laid on summer for their day and a record number of ladies, for 2012, turned out to play and fight their way through the rough of RP.
Not only did she lead the day in game 1, but she also lead the scoring from start to finish and the Lady Captain, Susan Smith, managed to cut her handicap in a reduction only day for the rest of the field. With a net 72 she beat Jayne Maxwell on 74 and Jini Beacham and Sheena Harrington who were two shots further back on 76.
The Captains provided entertainment on the way round for all, with 2 questions relating to captains on each hole and Susan presented each of the ladies with a gift for the day.
Ed Henery won men’s Captain’s Day with 67 on a back 9 count back from John Ahad.

Only 5 ladies contested the July medal on what turned out to be a none too pleasant day weather-wise, compounded by very slow play and a round of over 5 hours. The Lady Captain, Susan Smith proved victorious by one shot with a net 74 to beat Jini Beacham into second place.
Jon Cooper was a clear winner with 64 over Gurpal Sekhon 67.
Graeme Syme still leads the associated Grand Medal Trophy after 5 rounds.
