Dummer Away Day
Report due soon.
John Ritchie remained in good form and emerged the winner by 3 points from Nigel Ward, Mike Rowe, Lia Donath, Gary Flounders and Kate Emanuel.
Best ladies were Lia Donath and Kate Emanuel on 34 points – the former earning a sweep envelope.
With CSS computing to 34 (SSS 35), John’s handicap is cut by 2 – can he remain Top Dog leader?|
Cognisant of the CONGU decision 2(c) to give sympathetic consideration for reasonable discontinuance of play, the organising Committee disregarded Toby Hunt’s card – though he was one of the 24 men’s NAPGC £2 entrants.
A promising card from Paul Doran (36 points) caught discerning eyes in the Handicap Secretary’s office and was promptly disqualified for signing for the wrong gross score on hole 17 (see attached scan) being an infraction of Rules 6-6d & 32-2 since the outcome affected the points awarded for the hole.
The clear winner by 3 shots was Darrin Siiankowski with a 65 from John Ritchie, Itsawat Mahdumwronkul, Johan Pieters, Matt Mandelbaum, John Cooper and Richard Owen. Kate Emanuel scored 66 but was DQ for omitting to sign her card. Accordingly, best placed lady was Alison Chadwick on 71.
CSS was unchanged from SSS 68.
The competition doubled as the NAPGC medal qualifier with 30 men as indicated on the results electing to enter. It was also the first round for the Top Dog Trophy.
Spring Mixed Foursomes
Report due soon.
Ladies Autumn Weekend Away
The Autumn weekend away has been confirmed for Bicester Golf and Country Club in Oxfordshire.
Benign albeit quite windy conditions saw an excellent turnout (17) but disappointing scoring in the April Monthly Medal. The winner was Angela Flynn with a net 77 followed by Jayne Maxwell with a net 78.
Simon Beard proved the worthy winner playing off 10 for a 67, three clear of Jess Melville. Following a long winter. A number of competitors found it difficult playing this first round off the white tees.
CSS remained at SSS 70.
In the associated Grand Medal Trophy, Toby Hunt leads by 1 from John Ritchie and Peter Harrington – but lets not forget that Mike Smeal and Nick Rogers have a couple of 61s in the bag from the March Medal.
The men were docked two shots for competition results purposes. Handicap Secretary Paul Grand had a purple patch (except for 2 holes) and emerged the winner with 44 points three ahead of Hiro Ushido. Leading lady was Harriet Carr.
Ron Linden was DQ for signing for card showing only his stableford points – not gross scores.
CSS was elevated to 41 points – 1 above SSS. Men’s handicap list…
