New member Nigel Gaymond was the clear winner on 40 points from first lady Alison Chadwick who ceded 2 shots and scored 38 points. Third on a count back was Toby Hunt.
A couple of splendid 64s were returned with Val Riziotis declared the winner on a back 9 count back from Hans Koppelmann. Greg Albertyn was 3rd three shots behind. Ladies received shots in the competition.
In the associated Top Dog Trophy Hans and Itsawat Mahdumwronkul share the lead, each with 12 points.
Spring Mixed Foursomes
Susan Smith and Kerry Sargeant came tops with a big score in a big turnout.
Duke’s played more difficult off the white tees and variable greens but the deserved winner on 39 points was Itsawat Mahdumwronkul with 39 points. A point behind were Mike Rowe and Darrin Siankowski. Sheena Harrington was leading lady on 36 points on a back 9 count back from Val Riziotis.
Notables: Maureen Slade scored the only â€˜Two’. Ed Henery incurred DQ for signing for the wrong gross score at 15.
Itsawat leads the associated Top Dog Trophy with 12 well earned points in a field of 59.
The first round of the year off the proper tees seemed to cause the ladies a fair number of problems, with the outcome being a reduction only round. Cheryl was the first medal winner of 2011 with a net 74 followed by Jayne & Lia on net 76.
A captain’s innings saw Gurpal claim victory in a back 9 countback for 68 from Rick Smith. Kerry Sargeant maintained his run of good form earning 3rd with 69.
In the associated Grand Medal Trophy, Gurpal and Graeme Syme now tie on 138, two ahead of Toby Hunt, Tony Kopczak and Kerry.
