Extremely pleasant late summer conditions inspired Steve Cross to pull an immaculate 60 from the top draw to win, four ahead of very creditable 64s from Shaun DuPreez, Charlie Whiteman, and Liam Bridger.
The handicap committee was advised to apply an ESR for Steve who now plays off 16.8.
Another highlight of the day was another hole in one this year from James Barker who aced the 11th. Members toasted James with drinks afterwards. Well done James!
In the associated Grand Medal Trophy after 7 rounds Liam Bridger now leads Nigel Gaymond by 7 with 1 round left.

At the UKPCC finals at St. Andrews, scoring 37 points Toby Hunt came 3rd in the men’s competition and Val Riziotis was 4th in her division in the ladies’ with 36 points. Excellent scoring from both of them and hearty congratulations. |
There was a small field for this weekend’s competition with many away for the club autumn weekend outing and two of our number representing the club at the UKPCC finals. The runaway winner was Danny Deprez with 43 points and earning himself a 1.5 cut in handicap to 15.1. In second place, 5 points behind was Pete Davis.
Ladies Weekend Away
Christine Stewart won the Gill Hibbs Trophy with two very good rounds. Peter Harrison led the Men.
Early autumn but very pleasant conditions greeted competitors for the third Jubilee competition. Continuing good form established in last week’s President’s Putter, Tim Meyer was the clear winner on 68, two ahead of early clubhouse leaders Phil Flanagan and Chris Jones. Best lady just 3 off the winner was Sheena Harrington 71.
In the associated Anniversary Trophy, Jon Cooper leads by two on 222 from Ed Henery.
And in the Top Dog Trophy Paul Patching leads by five from Phil Flanagan.
News of a hole-in-one for Mike Shabani playing a match at the 189-yard 10th filtered quickly to members in the clubhouse and a tab at the bar opened to welcome and toast Mike. Well done indeed Mike!
