Ladies

Three brave ladies Kate, Lia and Val took on the composite 9 hole round twice last Sunday 9th February. No prizes to be had, no eclectic competition, no chance of playing the proposed team game but still they set out with energy, enthusiasm and a touch of madness to boot.

To keep them interested in walking through the sludge and to cope with the long walks between the tees together with the prospect of no prize to motivate them, they invented their own game of Joker Match Play. Lia had 1 joker, Val 2 with both awarded 2 jokers to play together against Kate. Surely they could do it.

Val leapt into the lead on the front nine only to be caught up by Lia and Kate very quickly at the beginning of the back nine. Courageous Kate kept cool and finally took the victory with a brilliant tee shot onto the edge of the 17th green. Val and Lia were left flabbergasted, muddy and wet (with still 1 more joker to play against her), but finally they tied for 2nd place. There were no prizes but there were no losers. Results…

Ladies

Another gloriously sunny day belied the extremely wet and muddy condition of Prince’s and again the competition was a non-qualifier with the 9th/18th being played on the Duke’s 18th. It was a low scoring day for the ladies, with Sheena Harrington winning the day on 33 points followed by Susan Smith on 32. Results…

The first eclectic of 2014 saw the highest turnout on Princes for some considerable time and whilst above us the day was glorious, underfoot it was decidedly squelchy! This was the second round of the eclectic on Princes, however, no one played in the first round.

Winner today on countback was Val Riziotis from Susan Smith, both on 36 points. Results…

In the eclectic, Jayne Maxwell leads the way with a net 80 from Susan and Sheena Harrington both on 81.

This was a non-qualifier as the 9/18th was played on the Duke’s 18th, but recorded for the competition as having been on Princes.

Honours Board

Conditions were atrocious on Sunday with the rain just getting heavier. The CSS reflected the adverse conditions being raised +3 to 67. However, there was some remarkable scoring with Chris Thompson the winner on 66 and earning a cut to single figures. Ed Henery, Steve Cross and Kieran Green had creditable 69s. Results…

This was the last round for the Grand Medal Trophy and Steve Cross hung on to win by one from Ahmad with Anthony a further two behind. Final Leader board…

The last jubilee of the year was played in glorious sunny autumn conditions and the results matched the weather with a closely contested competition. Ten people were within five shots of the winning score, but Nick Rogers prevailed with a net 66 beating Ahmad Al-bader and Paul Brown by one shot. All 3 have been rewarded with cuts to their handicaps. Results…

In the Anniversary Cup Charles Ajani emerged victorious by 4 shots from Nigel Ward  and a further 2 shots back, Veronica Mitchell. Final results…
