Clapham Common Match
Having fought though to the Area semi-final with two good results the team produced what had up till now been the second highest score in the country. Unfortunately it was not enough on the day but an incredibly consistent score from all the pairs home and away. We were unlucky not to have won but wish Ruislip (twice winners of the Clapham and twice runners up) good luck in the area final.

Clapham Common
A windy Sunday for the semi-final of the South London Clapham Common match. The format here is 3 men’s pairs at home and 3 away playing Greensomes Stapleford. The total points home and away are added up to find the winning team.
In tough conditions the home team averaged 37½ and won by 11 points. In tougher conditions at Lullingstone the away team fought well but lost by 16 giving the match to Lullingstone by 5 points overall.
A mere half a point swing in each game would have done it so a very well done – and a big thank you – to all who played. Results…

Hawtree – Team A Rd 2 v Farnham Park
Result: Win
The Club had a bye in the first round and played Farnham Park Golf Club at home in Round 2.
It was a clear win for the Club and we now go on to play Bird Hills away.
The team was Graham Syme & Jayne Maxwell, Jon Cooper & Kate Emanuel, Toby Hunt & Val Riziotis, Mike Rowe & Lia Donath plus Mike Smeal & Susan Smith.
Hawtree – Team A Rd 3 v Bird Hills
Result: 1-4 loss
We got through to round 3 and played Bird Hills away.
A strong fight was put up but unfortunately we were unable to get through to the next round. Birds Hills won 3 of the matches and we halved two. Well done to Graeme & Jayne and Jon & Kate for their halves.
The other teams were Shaun Feldon &Lia Donath, Paul Doran & Val Riziotis and Kerry Sergeant & Susan Smith.
Whitewebbs – Rd 2 at Hoebridge B
Result: 1½ 3½
The ladies had a bye in the first round and were drawn at home in round 2 against “Hoebridge B”.
The team put up a good fight but were unable to overcome the notoriously strong Hoebridge.
Well done to Val for her win, Susan for her half and to Rianda, Kate, and Maureen for their battling performances and close results.
Whitewebbs – Rd 1 at Hoebridge
Result: Loss 3-2
Harriet, Di, Veronica, Cheryl and Susan played against Hoebridge Ladies who were the finalist last year.
It was a closely contested match that went right up to the last game, but sadly we lost 3-2 to an extremely tough opposition. Harriet and Cheryl held their own very convincingly winning 3-2 and 5-4 respectively.
Well done to everyone for coming so close against a very good team.
Whitewebbs – Team A Rd 2 at Hoebridge
Result: 1-4 Loss
The 5 strong Ladies team participated in a 2nd round match in the White Webbs on Sunday June 1st.
Hoebridge is a great home course and tricky for visiting teams. Sadly our ladies were beaten 4- 1. Ros Gray who is in great form won her match convincingly!
