A combination of the middle of summer holidays and matches both Saturday and today kept numbers low as the rock hard conditions continue

Women

A mere 5 women played in the medal today with one playing an introductory round! Yesterday’s annihilation by the men obviously taking its toll.

The newly refurbished heart of Cheryl seems to be working well. She sometimes forgets how ‘high’ her handicap is with complaints about getting a bogey rather than par. Playing off 22 she dropped just 4 shots on the back 9!

It was all a bit slow being 3-balls behind the men in 4s but perhaps the relaxed chatty round that we had encouraged the good golf from Cheryl who with her net 68 beat the rest of us by 5 clear shots. Think the cost of drinks afterwards has outweighed the value of her prize today!

Men

Conditions were plainly ideal for Nick Rogers who shot 68 gross off 10= net 58! Well done indeed… his 34 out 34 back included eagle at 9th and 3 birdies. Nick had a -1 ESR and handicap cut from 9.7 to 7.4.

In form Pat Dalton shot an incredible nett 62 and his handicap over the week reduced from 25.7 to 24.2 – the week included a team win for Pat in the Midweek Captain’s day. Robert Carlile finished 3rd with 63.

The round was 6th in the Grand Medal which sees Juiian James on a convincing 328 a long way from Goran 344 and Secretary Peter 345.
