Founders Cup – E. Bailey (2 of 6
The weather was good with a slight breeze. it seems that the majority of the field scored 30+ points so well done.
Kim Jabbour had a consistent round of 22 points out and 20 back to lead the field by 1 point from Dave Cato and Sheena Harrington both on 41 points. Dave just edging into second place on countback. Apparently Sheena had an outrageous long putt for a 2 on the 10th hole. Chris Rudkin sailed round 20 points out and back with Mehmet Akdeniz was 5th with 19 out and 20 back. Very well done to the above
Kelso Hamilton 2025
RPGC entered 2 teams in the Kelso Hamilton East 4BBB knockout in 2025. The Richmond Park 1 team comprised Richard Owen & Alan Treacy; The Richmond Park 2 team comprised Adrian Wells and Julian James.
The Richmond Park 1 team had a bye in the first round but lost 4&3 away to Walton Heath Artisans in Round 2.
The Richmond Park 2 team beat Dulwich & Sydenham 2 in Round 1 (on Prince’s); it was a tight match until the 17th and we won 2&1. The team then beat Surrey Downs 2 in Round 2, which we chose to play away although drawn at home. It was one of those days when our putts went in, particularly Julian’s, while theirs didn’t and they accepted defeat with very good grace.
In Round 3, Bill Norman (standing in for the injured Julian James) and Adrian Wells beat Surbiton 1 4&3, playing at home on Prince’s. The team built a 5 hole lead by the 10th and were never really threatened, thanks in large part to Bill’s good play in what was his best round ever.
May Bank Holiday Bogey Plate
A decidedly chilly day with a nagging northerly for the Bank Holiday Plate – contrasted with unseasonable warmth during the week. Still dry with plenty of run for balls.
Scoring was good with Tom O’Hare the winner 6 up from Joan Mulcahy on a countback; 3rd was Brian McMahon 5 up ( Brian was 6 up on front 9). There followed 3 on 4 up – Lee Frost, Jenny Lawrence and Toby Hunt.
Women scored well – congratulations to Joan, Jenny, Elisabeth Piner and Seema Sandhu for being ‘up’ on the course.
Special mention to Craig Johnstone who scored eagle 2 on the par 4 3rd hole. -see attached ‘Tree’ report.
